
Mike J Terrett
Chief Operating Officer
Mike Terrett was appointed Chief Operating Officer in September 2007.
Prior to that he was President - Civil Aerospace, responsible for the strategy and performance of the Civil Aerospace business. Previously he was Managing Director of Airlines and before that he was President and Chief Executive Officer of International Aero Engines (IAE) based in East Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
Mike joined Rolls-Royce in 1978 and his career has included a number of senior positions in the development of new aero engine programmes. Before moving to IAE he was Project Director of RB211 and Trent 700 engines, and prior to that was deeply involved in development of the Trent 800 from design to entry into service, culminating in his appointment as Chief Engineer on that programme.
Mike was a member of the Rolls-Royce team that won the 1996 MacRobert Award for Innovation in Engineering, and a year later was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering silver medal for outstanding personal contribution to British engineering, in particular for his work on Trent engines. He is also a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society.
He is a Director of International Aero Engines AG, Rolls-Royce Capital Limited, and the Supervisory Board of Rolls-Royce General Partner KG, the parent of Rolls-Royce Deutschland GMBH.
Born in Rhondda, Mid Glamorgan, he was educated at Newman School, Pontypridd and the University of Durham where he graduated with a First in Engineering Science. Married with three young sons. His interests are rugby, soccer and family.
