Axel Arendt
President - Defence Aerospace

Axel Arendt became President - Defence Aerospace in April 2006 and is responsible for the strategy and performance of the Defence Aerospace business.

He joined Rolls-Royce in 2002 as Chairman of Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd and Co KG and a member of the Group Executive of Rolls-Royce plc.

Axel started his career at Daimler-Benz AG in 1979, holding several positions in Finance and Corporate Controlling in the passenger car and commercial vehicles division both in Bremen and Stuttgart.

In 1990 Axel was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Mercedes-Benz, Mexico. He was appointed President of Mercedes-Benz, Argentina in 1994, and four years later became President of Mercedes-Benz, Turkey.

In January 2000 he moved to DaimlerChrysler Aerospace, later to become part of EADS, where he served as Chief Financial Officer.

Axel graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the Technical University of Hannover in 1976, subsequently completing a Master of Business Administration at the Technical University of Munich.

Axel is married with three children.
