Appointed to the Board in 1997. He is Chairman of Domino Printing Sciences plc and Molins PLC, and a non-executive director of AMEC plc. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He was a director of N M Rothschild & Sons Limited from 1977 to 1996.

Appointed to the Board in January 2005. He is an executive director of BP p.l.c. having held a range of executive positions within the BP Group worldwide. He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of The Imperial College London Tanaka Business School.

Professor Peter Gregson - FREng, FIEI
Non-executive Director

Appointed to the Board in March 2007. He is President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast and serves on the Northern Ireland Economic Development Forum, the Council of CBI Northern Ireland and the Steering Group of the US - Ireland Research and Development Partnership. He is a Fellow and Council Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, and Deputy Lieutenant of Belfast. He was formerly Professor of Aerospace Materials and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton and has served on the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC).

President and Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce North America Inc.

Appointed to the Board in 1998. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce North America Inc., in October 1997. He is a director of the Private Bank and Trust Company of Chicago, Illinois and of priceline.com Inc. Until 1994 he was Executive Vice President, Marketing and Planning of United Airlines.

Non-executive Director

Appointed to the Board in February 2008. John McAdam was the Chief Executive of ICI plc until ICI's acquisition by Akzo Nobel. He is a non-executive director of J Sainsbury Plc and is a non-executive director and Chairman designate, of United Utilities PLC and a member of the University of Cambridge Chemistry Advisory Board.

John Rishton - FCMA
Non-executive Director

Appointed to the Board in March 2007. He is Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Royal Ahold. He began his career in 1979 at Ford Motor Company and held a variety of positions both in the UK and in Europe. In 1994 he joined British Airways plc where he was Chief Financial Officer from 2001 to 2005. He is a former non-executive director of Allied Domecq.

Finance Director

Appointed to the Board as Finance Director in January 2003, having joined Rolls-Royce in November 2002. He is a non-executive director of Cairn Energy PLC. He was Finance Director of Enterprise Oil plc from 1993 until 2002.

Colin P Smith - FREng, FIMechE, FRAeS
Director - Engineering and Technology

Appointed to the Board in 2005, Colin joined Rolls-Royce in 1974 as an undergraduate apprentice. He had held a variety of key engineering positions within the company, including Chief Engineer RTM322 and Chief Engineer of Small Engines, both at the former Leavesden site, Chief Engineer of the Trent 700 engine, based in Derby, Head of Engineering for Compressors and Fans, and Director of Engineering for the Airbus Trent projects. In 2001 he was appointed as Director of Engineering & Technology for Civil Aerospace, becoming Director of Research & Technology three years later. Colin is a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering, The Institute of Mechanical Engineers and The Royal Aeronautical Society.

He is the Former Chief Executive of BTR plc, former Deputy Chief Executive (1991 to 1995) and Chief Financial Officer (1987 to 1991) of Rio Tinto plc and a former non-executive Chairman of Instinet Group Inc and former non-executive director of Commercial Union.

Carl G Symon - BSc, MSc
Non-executive Director

Appointed to the Board in 1999. He is Chairman of HMV Group plc and Clearswift Systems Ltd. He is also a non-executive director of BT Group plc and Chairman of the BT Group Equality of Access Board, Senior Independent Director of Rexam plc and an Advisory Board member of Cross Atlantic Capital Partners. He was previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, IBM UK. He held numerous executive positions in IBM Corp. in Canada, USA, Latin America, Asia and Europe during a 32 year international career.

Mike J Terrett
Chief Operating Officer

Mike Terrett was appointed Chief Operating Officer in September 2007.

Prior to that he was President - Civil Aerospace, responsible for the strategy and performance of the Civil Aerospace business. Previously he was Managing Director of Airlines and before that he was President and Chief Executive Officer of International Aero Engines (IAE) based in East Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
